Can we enter more than one project from our school?

Yes! We know some schools are entering a project per year group, and some are entering one project from the whole school.

Do we have to work with a DFC Coach?

No! The DFC coaches are volunteering to assist schools who would like help - specifically with the Feel, Imagine, parts of the process. There is no obligation to ask a coach to work with you.

How much help do we give the children?

The whole purpose of DFC is to empower children to express their own ideas and put them into action.

During 2011 the global project will be re-branded The Design for Change Challenge. Each country will interpret this their own way but in the UK DFC is not a competition - it is a challenge and an inspirational experience.

The more you help the children the less they learn.

What is Flickr?

Flickr is a photo-sharing web site where you can upload images taken throughout the course of your project. We also encourage you to upload photos to the Design for Change Facebook page as well. Let's spread the contagion as wide as we can.

If you prefer, you can email images to us (preferably in a zip file) and we will upload them to the Design for Change Flickr Account. Please check your submission form for details.

If we ask for a DFC Coach - what will they do?

They will help you lead the first Feel, Image session if you wish, or they will sit quietly and observe. Many teachers are becoming interested in coaching skills for the classroom - which are very different from teaching skills - and the coach can help 'model' some good practice.

Design for Change is an ideal project to 'test' the power of coaching to spark creativity and engagement.

Is DFC a Competition?

Not in UK.  Internationally there has been some emphasis on entering to win prizes.  Having discussed this at length with teachers, we have decided that we would rather see DFC as a Challenge than a Competition. We will be recognising all schools that take part.

When we evaluate the impact of design for change and plan the 2011 Challenge - we will discuss this aspect at length with all who took part.
