Open Letter to Teachers
Dear Teacher,
Following on from the UK launch of Design for Change at the end of last term, we are writing to invite your school to participate in this year’s first ever UK project. You are the ambassadors of what we hope will be a hugely successful celebration of ‘Be the Change’ activities over the coming years.
To support you in enabling Design for Change to happen at your school, we would like to offer you the option of working with a Design for Change coach, at no cost to the school, who will guide the facilitation of the Feel, Imagine, Do, Share and Sustain stages of one project. This is how it will work:

One Class – you need to choose a class and teacher for the coach to work with on the Feel and Imagine first stages

One Coach – if you wish, we will provide your school for free with a qualified coach to facilitate the Feel and Imagine first stages of the Design for Change process

One Day – we would like you to find a day this half-term when the coach can work with your chosen class to establish the project that they want to do

One Outcome – by the end of that day, we would like the class to have agreed what the project is going to be and how they are going to put it into action

One Commitment – we ask you to then commit to carrying out this chosen project and to submitting it on-line in video format to the Design for Change website – www.designforchangeuk.org – by Monday, 29th November 2010.
The coach will continue to support your school through the Do, Share and Sustain stages of your project. We will also offer the teacher that works with us a place on a two-day coaching skills programme at no cost to the school to help enhance their learning.
Whether you work with one of our coaches or manage the project on your own, we will send you a step-by-step Design for Change Guide (Toolkit) by the end of September.
We are aiming to provide a Flip video camera to the first 30 schools who sign up and there will be a special event in the New Year when everyone can share their stories and celebrate their success.
We are very excited that you will be one of our ambassador schools and we look forward to working with you later this term and presenting what your students have done.
